What happens if you focus on the fish without giving attention to the water they're swimming in? In this signature presentation, Dr. Olatunji helps school leaders to appreciate how school culture and climate either support or undermine the performance of youth. He shows how his unique “FACES” framework enables youth to develop emotionally as well as academically. Combined with school leader support, both teachers and their students experience empowerment. In turn, teacher satisfaction increases, resulting in greater student engagement and achievement.
Objectives:
• Understand school culture and climate and how they influence student performance.
• Acquire a research-based framework for leveraging engagement to boost achievement.
• Learn five strategies to make learning enjoyable, engaging, and challenging, and fulfilling.
• Experience a sense of re-invigoration for teaching and learning.
How many times have you encountered students who haven’t the foggiest idea of what they’d like to do with their lives after graduation? They’ve spent so much time focusing on academic subjects throughout their lives that they’ve lost touch with the main subject—themselves! This presentation shows counselors and educators how to help youth avoid this situation and design their futures. Those who work with youth at the secondary or post- secondary level may benefit most.
Objectives:
• Gain the understanding needed to help youth apply their education effectively.
• Learn the key success principles needed to help youth develop a sense of direction and purpose.
• Acquire a time-tested framework for career planning and development.
